Sean Logan was elected to a 3rd term in the state Senate to represent the 45th Senatorial District in parts of Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
Sen. Logan was elected Democratic Caucus Secretary by his colleagues for the 2009-10 Legislative Session. He has been appointed as chairman of the Senate Law and Justice Committee. Sen. Logan was also appointed as a member of the Appropriations; Rules and Executive Nominations; and Policy committees. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency Board of Directors. He sits on the Senate Firefighters and Emergency Services Caucus as the Democratic Chairman; the Legislative Audit Review Commission; and the Legislative Data Processing Committee. He is also a member of the Autism and Lupus Caucuses.
He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Political Science.
Prior to his election to the Senate, Sean Logan was Community Development Representative to Congressman Michael F. Doyle and the director of Consumer Protection for the Office of District Attorney in Allegheny County.
In 1997, Sean Logan became the youngest person elected Mayor to the Municipality of Monroeville. He was also the youngest mayor in the Commonwealth.
Senator Logan was picked to receive the Pittsburgh Magazine “40 under 40” award in 1999. In 2001 he received the State Official of the Year Award from the Western PA Firemen’s Association. In 2004, Senator Logan received the Van Essen Award from the Western PA Optometric Society, the State Official of the Year Award from the Allegheny County Library Association and the Public Policy Award from the Mental Health Association of Allegheny County. He received the Best Public Official Award — Times Express Newspaper, 2005.
He was nominated by Allegheny County Chief Executive and approved unanimously by Allegheny County Council to serve on the City of Pittsburgh/Allegheny County Sports and Exhibitions Authority Board.
Sen. Logan is a member of the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce; Association of Borough Mayors of Allegheny County; Lisa's House Board of Directors; Fraternal Order of Police, Pennsylvania State Lodge; Order of Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Lodge 224; Steel Valley Authority Board of Directors; Woman’s Place Board of Trustees; and the Alle-Kiski Learning Center Board. He also serves as an honorary member of the Mon-Yough Fire Defense Council and is honorary co-chairman of the Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Services Institute.
He is married to the former Shannon Regan. They have two children, Ella Elizabeth and Regan John.
